About Us

Our Church, Old Friendship Baptist Church, is to be a place of fellowship, where Christians can be devoted to one another and honor one another (Romans 12:10), instruct one another (Romans 15:14), be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32), encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and most importantly, love one another (1 John 3:11).

Who We Are

Old Friendship is one of the oldest churches in Georgia. It is in fact the oldest African American church in Cobb County (in Marietta, Georgia).

About Old Friendship Baptist Church

The Old Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Family humbly and proudly acknowledges its long and fruitful history. During the 167 years since its inception, Old Friendship has served as a bulwark and source of spiritual and emotional strength for many who have labored in its bountiful vineyard.

Old Friendship is one of the oldest churches in Georgia.  It is in fact the oldest African American church in Cobb County (in Marietta, Georgia).

The Story of Old Friendship Baptist Church is one of perseverance and faith in the face of overwhelming odds.  The church is known by its members as the “Old Ship of Zion”.  It began in a brush arbor in the Sandtown-Lost Mountain area of west Cobb County, Georgia, in 1854.

Since that time, members have seen the church’s building destroyed by wind and fire – multiple times.  yet the church remain standing for it’s divine purpose.

Knowing Jesus & Making Jesus Known

Knowing Jesus means knowing the GOOD NEWS!  That Good News is that while we are all sinners (those who have failed to live up to God’s perfect standard), Jesus has provided a way for sinners to be pardoned instead of punished. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we can have a relationship with God (through Jesus) that transforms our lives forever.  That we may have everlasting life.

Matthew 24:14 – “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Matthew 28:19 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..”

Mark 11:17 – “And as He taught them, He said, ‘Is it not written: “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations“? …’” (Isaiah 56:7)

Mark 13:10 – “And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.”

Mark 13:27 – “And He will send His angels and gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.”

Mark 16:15 – “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’”
